From the Director
Acts 1:8 is a familiar verse in the Bible which we as Baptists have no problem with taking literally. We know what it means and we believe what it means. The problem is not that we don't take it literally, the problem is we sometimes don't take it seriously.
"You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth." My goal is that this will be a year of renewed commitment to and involvement in Acts 1:8 missions among our churches. Some churches are already doing local, state, national and international mission projects.
The "Acts 1:8 Challenge" will encourage a greater involvement in new mission projects as well as recognize and celebrate with the churches which are helping fulfill the Great Commission. I anticipate that God will do great things through our churches as we increase our commitment to learn more about missions, and go more places to do missions.
You will be hearing more. The less we do, the less God has an opportunity to do through us. As we do more, God is able to do more through us.
